Winter camping under a mighty old pine in the arctic wilderness of Lemmenjoki NP in Finnish Lapland, some 250km north of the Arctic Circle. The nights were cold, around -20C, but it meant clear skies for some fantastic auroras! Skiing your own trail and enjoying nature's wonders when there's not many people out there, is an empowering experience. It's demanding, but that just makes it feel even more adventurous and rewarding. Some basic skills&knowledge+right attitude and gear gets you far.

The northern lights are a magical sight many people will never see with their own eyes. The exposure and lighting in this image really bring the experience to life and adding the human element of camping in harsh temperatures makes this event even more special. Beautiful!
