There are not many women directors and screenwriters. My friend is both and an actor on top of it all. Because of her, another film was created by a woman. She is a female artist making it seem possible to penetrate an industry run by men. I took this shot of her directing a scene while shooting behind the scenes photography on her short film "Sponsored".

I love the layering in your photo, and how you are leading my eye through your composition to your friend, the subject of your "Because of Her" submission. But what I really love is the larger theme you are addressing: the need for more women directors and screenwriters. We need more women AND minorities in leadership roles, not just in the creative world, but also in business and politics. We need more women AND minority role models. Diversity is so important.
