I live on this corner in Brooklyn. Forget Punxsutawney Phil. You can mark the onset of spring when droves of engaged couples flood the picturesque streets of DUMBO to have their pre-wedding photos taken at this corner - the Manhattan Bridge serving as a great backdrop. But these landmarks are here all year long. On this night two weeks ago the cobblestone was covered in snow, but DUMBO was still there. Most people blindly put their heads down struggling homeward. I stopped to catch this.

Super photo, Glenn, of this iconic landmark.  I've seen a lot of pretty decent shots of the bridge, but I find yours the most interesting.  Thanks for sharing. I'm pretty impressed that you got such DOF with a 3.5 aperture.  Nice work.

I used to a few blocks away in BK and this captures the balance of peace and energy of the city, in all weather. Amazing work!

Terrific image, a lot of feeling in it. What does DUMBO stand for? Did you take this in black and white originally?

Thank you, everyone!  Note the "Attention Drivers" sign on the left with the silhouette in the crosswalk.  Happy accident :)

Great photo, Glenn. I live in Queens but have been in your area for the past few nights trying to get a shot of some pylons and the skyline by the water. Check them out if you want from my gallery. I loved that I was the only one there while people stayed home because of the weather.

Larry, thanks for the feedback! DUMBO stands for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass. Originally I shot this in color (jpg and RAW). I dropped the colors because the several different light sources made for confusing "cool" and "warm" areas on the photo. The end result was just far better. Now there is a mood and sense of timelessness that the color version just didn't have.
