The bright variable star at the top center of the image is Gamma Cassiopeiae in the northern constellation Cassiopeia (Named after the mythological Greek queen). This bright star emits 55,000 times the radiation of our Sun and is nearing the end of its life. The nebulosity below the star is a combination emission and reflection nebula.
