A photographic tribute to old-school 2D platform video games, like Donkey Kong. Shot on location in Hong Kong from a skyscraper, by using a tele lens to make the images more flat it was possible to create the feeling of the model being the players alter ego, the character, and the actual image would be the players perspective. We used walkie-talkies to communicate with the persons on the ground, fine-tuning them for the right perspective.

Very creative use of the environment, feels like a live action Banksy. I especially like the attention to details in the shot. For instance, the left heel is lifted up a tiny bit to make it feel like it’s in mid stride. Often good concepts aren’t accompanied by good execution. In this case, concepts and execution both deserves an A+. It’s interesting enough for me to google Christian’s other works. -B. Yen
