Thanks to everyone who took on this challenge. It was a tough assignment on multiple fronts. First you had to find an idea, than you had to figure out how to photograph it in a creative way. How do you capture innovation and make it interesting?

When I sat down to do my final edit and realized how few images I’d have to choose from, I became a little worried. Would there be enough photos that both fit the theme and were good? The answer was yes. While this is one of our smaller stories, I do think my worries were unfounded.

The photos chosen show ideas both big and small; some are new and some have been passed down from one generation to the next. There are ideas that impact a single individual and others that benefit an entire community. Many of the submissions made me stop and say, Why didn’t I think of that? or I‘m stealing this idea!

If there was a recurring theme in the submissions, it was that sometimes the simplest ideas are the smartest.
