Imagine if you could fly on white wings.

    #egret #nature #wings

Reimagine your life. Three words that make some shudder with anxiety and others start to smile. And as it turns out, this assignment proved to be both difficult and enjoyable. Thanks to everyone who submitted, but a special thanks to those of you who wrote what the photo meant to you in your caption. Particularly for this story, it was important to hear from the photographer’s directly on why they submitted that particular photo for this specific assignment. Those are the photos that spoke to me, that made me feel.

There were several main themes that surfaced while I was editing the submissions. Follow your dreams. Be inspired and creative. Enjoy your freedom. We are all connected—humans, animals and the natural world need each other. Keep learning. And let your imagination go!

Great composition and use of light create a nice tension within the frame. The photo inspires the viewer to think about this young girl's life and acts as a mirror reflecting back on their own.

    Editor's Note

Nothing seems out of the ordinary until you see the nun—that's when this photo goes from good to great. The lines made by the swing ride ropes keep the eye moving throughout the image. And the neon orange lights act as the perfect backdrop to help set the people apart from the grey-blue sky.

These woods are both inviting and slightly off-putting. The bareness of the trunks and the eerie fog add to the overall dream-like quality of this forest. The scene pulls the viewer in and dares them to step inside.

The lone figure surrounded by nature is a very powerful symbol. It speaks to adventure and challenge; introspection and inspiration. The striking pose of the climber combined with the dramatic spot lighting, makes the viewer think beyond themselves and into the future and all eternity.

I just wanted to comment about a practice that has become 'common' in the assignments. It is disappointing when someone add my photograph to favorites just to 'make me' enter his/hers. Then I see my photo, and has zero views. Honestly, your work needs to talk for itself: I would like to know if my work really likes you, and if you have a comment about it. Probably it would be a good idea to remove the ability to add photos to favorites without viewing/opening. Just a thought.

How we perceive the world is at times more important than what it is in reality. These shots go beyond mere documentation - they are the artists' view of the world. Their imaginations colour and shape the photos and endow them with life.

All thanks to God for his wonderful creations that we are privileged to have an awareness of to enjoy, animals do not have that ability. We need to learn to look after the stunning gift of nature and Nat Geo is a great way of bringing this world into our homes, it is such a treat to indulge in this beauty, thank you!

@Virginia C.I totaly agree with you! How do people classify picture as their favorite without even seen the entire frame. Picture is not only about the center of interest but specially the interaction of all the elements within the frame and with the frame! It should not be possible to add photo to favorites without viewing the picture. It make sens
