I’d like to start of by congratulating everyone who participated in the Mother and Child assignment. This is the first Your Shot assignment I’ve edited and I am so impressed with the images you've shared. You are giving National Geographic photographers a run for our money!
It’s truly been a wonderful experience to edit this project. There is a tenderness in so many of your images that transported me into the most intimate worlds of the people and animals you've photographed. As a viewer, I felt like a spy at times, witnessing a moment so intimate that it felt as if you had shared it with me alone. Other times, I felt your essence in a clearly public situation, but the moment shared became something only you could see. I was impressed by the clear command of light, framing, and correct use of color or black and white. Appropriate use of these tools will help you best communicate the moment you want to share with us.
With these tools, you have captured moments that resonated in the hearts of everyone who viewed them. It was a true privilege to witness the mother-child dynamic through your eyes. And for this, I thank you.
