    new pet

    #jailbreak #jail #pet #chameleon

Pets come in all shapes and sizes. While this may be a cliché, it's also true, and it kept running through my mind as I edited this assignment. If you love animals, it really doesn’t matter what they look like or how unusual they are. Once they've stolen your heart, there's not much you can do … except buy them special treats and an extra lush blanket to curl up in after their bubble bath.

This was a tough story to edit because there were so many pictures of cute animals doing adorable things. And it’s hard not to like cute. But the photos that really stood out to me were the ones that showed the connection between person and pet.

There were many shots that I wished had been better photos in the technical sense—better lighting, exposure, and focus, or maybe a different angle and composition. When you have all-day access to the subject, you should use it to your advantage and keep shooting. Try to find that unique situation that will really show the best side of your pet.

    Editor's Note

The shaft of light on the animal’s face is subtle, secretive and sly—just like the fox itself. The kitchen scene is very ordinary, yet the subject matter is anything but.

What is a pet? Depending on where you live in the world, the answer can be quite different. Indoors or outdoors, wild or domesticated, constant companion or weekend visitor—the definition of pet is much broader than one would think. But the one constant is the love and connection that's shared. Because no matter who you are, everybody needs a friend, whether they're covered in fur or have fins. As this story shows, looks don’t matter when it comes to matters of the heart.
