First off I wanted to thank you all for participating in the assignment. Though I don't think of it as an assignment. It's more like an excuse to experiment and work on the craft we all love. That is the great thing about a venue like Your Shot: We might be living and photographing all over the world and have completely different lifestyles, but we all find joy in making pictures and we can come together here to do it.
Obviously the making photographs concept was lost on a few people, and others questioned whether or not I even needed to differentiate the practice. So I wanted to take the time to make a few things clear that maybe weren't in my last assignment updates.
THERE ARE NO RULES.
Good art doesn't follow dots or lines—otherwise we would still be drawing like we did in kindergarten with paint-by-number books.
Art—and for this class specifically, street photography—is about expressing yourself and asking questions through image-making about the world around you. Some approaches may be more successful than others depending on what you hope to create.
