The snow was late this winter. The weather had been cold for months - excellent for getting safe ice on the lake. Several decades had gone since this happened last time, an entire lake covered with steel ice. We had been skating the entire late afternoon. During the twilight hour we went home tired and satisfied with the skating experience.
