Gift from Ocean
A big part of Vietnamese live along the coastal and earn by fish catching. Therefore, they very much care for sea and sea food. Long time ago, when food were rare and not easy to find, Vietnamese fishermen found a way to keep fish free from being spoiled. That was to mix fish with salt and had them dried under the direct sunlight. In addition, Vietnamese have many festivals to show their grateful to sea and sea gods.
In this photo, a woman is having fished dried using traditional way.
Incredible! What a remarkable perspective to tell this story from. It's like the fish are still suspended and animated somehow. There is a heart wrenching poetry to this insightful image. I am moved by the way in which you show us that they were once alive in the sea, and are now merely aloft on a net. Way to push the boundaries on how you bring the ocean into focus on land....within humanity's hands. Wow!
