This pink-magenta colored flower is one of the earliest bloomers of shrubs native to our region. The Salmonberry is edible to both humans and wildlife. Their seeds get distributed far and wide by birds and mammals who eat the fruit and deposit the seeds in their feces. When the sun comes out so do a few insects, in this case a beetle looking for something smaller than itself to consume.
