While talking with a Ranger I overheard a radio message about a bear raiding a picnic table nearby. It seems the bear had wandered in attracted by the scent of food. It looked around and saw some folks had just laid out their picnic lunch. The people noticed the bear wandering towards them and backed away from their table. This was the first of many encounters with the bear we named Gertrude.
