I gained inside access to create a visual story in Kolkata at kalighat in the time of Shitola Puja. This helped me experience and attempt to pictorially document the myriad rituals, emotions and events that take place during Shitola Puja. Some of these rituals are vanishing from our culture and need to be explored and documented. Here the married women of the extended family hold flaming earthen lamps on their heads and in their hands.
