I understand the need for breeding the California Condor in secure locations and releasing them back into the wild. I just could not stop from crying as I was leaving the enclosure and turned to see this male watching me leave. Would he ever fly free again? Knowing his progeny were repopulating California was not in his capacity to understand and appreciate. He was missing the feel of the wind lifting him higher and higher into the clouds as he hunted for a fresh meal.
