    Mitre Peak stands close to the shore of Milford Sound, in the Fiordland National Park in the southwestern South Island, it is a stunning sight. The mountain rises near vertically to 1,690 m. Milford Sound is one of the most spectacular sights in New Zealand and being there in person was a highlight of my recent trip to the South Island.
