Edit Photo Details Spotted Towhee male on Alert   #wildlife #bird #spotted_towhee #pipilomaculatus
This bird is a year-round resident in our area and found in the western states. Its counterpart in the eastern states, the Eastern Towhee, has a more solid black wing topside. This bird is most often seen foraging, scratching around, in the leaf litter on the ground looking for insects and seeds. I happened to catch this guy in a Vine Maple tree and he was taking note of my presence just as I clicked.
