I love both the softness of the subject and the soft focus in the background. This photo was taken at a bend in the river that collects sticks and driftwood, which had the potential to look very cluttered. I used a shallower depth of field to soften the busy background. This image captures this little guy/gal's personality--the shy, quiet one who loves to observe its 6 rambunctious siblings and take it all in.
