We were lucky to come across a pack of wild dogs just after sunrise while on a game drive in Kruger National Park in South Africa. The group seemed perturbed and were occasionally howling. Our guide who was familiar with the pack counted 17 dogs out of the usual 18 and thought they might have lost one of their group during the night. It would be a sad loss as this in an endangered species with a decreasing population.
