Flower of the day - Gazania
Flower of the day - Gazania - genus of 16 species of annual and perennial daisies in the family Asteraceae, native to Southern Africa. The genus was named for Theodore of Gaza, who translated the botanical texts of Theophrastus from Greek into Latin. A number of gazania species (G. linearis and G. rigens) are regarded as an environmental weed in Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia and as an emerging or potential environmental weed in parts of Western Australia and New South Wales.
