Quiet Places
Life in the suburbs of NYC can be hectic and sometimes overwhelming. For me, spending time by the ocean is an important tonic. The rhythmic procession of the waves drowns out the sound of car horns and leaf blowers and the salty, humid air encourages me to breath deeply. Especially early in the morning, when I most like to visit, the seaside is quiet. Even when not sonically quiet, the vastness of the water seems to encourage a quietness of mind. Here, a misty morning at Sherwood Island Park.
