Glacial Retreat
The Franz Josef Glacier in Western New Zealand is a wonder to explore, but global warming is threatening it's existence. It is retreating steadily at a rate of 70 cm a day. You could once walk up to it easily, but now the only way to reach it is by helicopter as it retreats up the mountains revealing the valleys it has carved. It's an immense monument to the power of Mother Nature.
