    I was visiting the World War II memorial in Washington DC and was taken by the shadows and silhouettes of the other visitors on the walls of the memorials. This shot in particular captured my imagination. The sharp outline of the child contrasted with the way the other figures are fading into the darkness suggests something about the passage of time, or legacies. I also thought about the sense of regression back to childlike fear and sadness when we contemplate the loss of our parents.
