Gurudongmar Lake - The Glacier Lake
Gurudongmar Lake, located in sikkim in India is the lifeline of the state. The main river of Sikkim, Teesta originates from the Gurudongmar lake.
This beautiful and mesmerizing lake, located next to the glacier that feeds it, is also considered one of the holiest lakes in Sikkim. Legend has it that Guru Rinpoche who is believed to have introduced Buddhism to Tibet, Nepal, Bhutan and Sikkim landed first at this lake when he entered sikkim.
He is believed to have blessed the lake.
