Meet Shambi, during a rain storm in the Masai Mara. Shambi was with Samir/Box-Nose, the two lions who shortly before this stole a buffalo kill from two younger male lions. Male lions are roaming more and more widely as the level of available food drops. With the dry season ending, predators in the Masai Mara NR face a hard time until July when the big herds migrate again into the reserve. Fights over food, territory and females become increasingly common at this time of year.
