A garter snake takes a moment to pause during the spring emergence at the Narcisse snake dens. Every spring, thousands of snakes emerge from their dens and mate before dispersing into the surrounding forest. As new mating balls like this one are formed, new opportunities arise to capture the character of the snakes, making every picture unique.
