The Ice Stupa
Most villages and settlements in Ladakh face acute water shortage in summer months, and flash floods in the rains. They compete for their daily water needs and the crops they can grow only in summer. All water trapped in form of ice is wasted. Last winter an Ice Stupa - artificial glacier was made which stores this wasting winter water in the form of ice mountains that melt and feed the farms when water is most needed by the farmers.
