Nesting platforms for Osprey
Nesting platforms for Osprey, were built and installed at the Cooper Marsh Conservation Area. It is located a few meters from the lake, the bird's main feeding site. In the 1950s and 1960s, the Osprey population dropped significantly following the massive use of DDT. This powerful pesticide made the shells of the eggs thinner, which meant that they broke when the Osprey brooded them. Luckily, thanks to the proscription of DDT and the human help, the Osprey population has recovered better.
