Trash Talk
There are less than 800 individuals of the Greater Adjutant Stork species left in the world. Their existence is reduced to the ignominy of settling for scraps from abattoirs, among the mountains of garbage outside the city of Guwahati, Assam. Quite an oxymoron to look for as species listed in the IUCN as endangered, in a garbade dump. There were a few dozen individuals when we visited the dump but I was fascinated by this individual with a cow's tail dangling from it's bill, a cherished prize.
