    Reported by:

One of this years cygnets resting against its mother (Pen) at the lakeside in Studley Royal Deer Park near Ripon. At this age the cygnets are vulnerable to predation. When I photographed this one in the morning it had three siblings by the evening when I returned one had been lost...someone suggested it could have been to a pike. Update: on returning a week later the swans have lost all their cygnets - not the first year this has happened but never a nice thing to see.
