Old Meets New(er)
A hundred years ago, Theo van Doesburg established a magazine called De Stijl in Leiden. It was the start of an artistic movement that aimed for pure abstraction in art and architecture. This radical departure from traditional architecture laid the groundwork for what would become the International Style in architecture.Here a detail of a 1:5 scale model of a house designed by Doesburg and van Eesteren, set against the background of a typical 17th century Dutch home.
