    Here my aunt (the bride) sits down with the company of my cousin sister for the pre-wedding ritual that is religiously followed all across the country , commonly known as haldi. The ritual is held at both the bride and the groom’s place .The significance of this ritual is to ward of the evil , also a symbol of blessing . Turmeric, according to Hindu texts is said to have purification powers. Application of the paste cleanses the body and soul.
