One of the most important Hindu festivals in Kolkata is the Durga Puja. The demand for Idols of the warrior Goddess Durga is high in the weeks leading up to this festival and the pressure is on for the artisans to meet their orders. I spent many weeks visiting and documenting Kurmortuli, the potters quarter. After spending a few days with the artisans they became quite relaxed with me. I was able to learn about these fascinating people and their lives.
