Woman monk
Many of the monks in Ethiopia are women who are easily recognisable by the cotton caps with a cross sewn in front.
I was near the Bilbala St. George church accompanied by a deacon from Lalibela when I saw a couple of pilgrims and among them this woman. The deacon started talking with her and anfter about one minute they started kissing each other on the cheeks. Surprised by the sequence I asked what happened and the deacon said: Eh, we discovered we are family!
