Ines and her ceremonial altar in Huautla
Ines is a traditional Mazatec guide in Huautla de Jimenez, a remote town north of Oaxaca, Mexico. She is in the long tradition of spiritual healing and guidance with the help of the local psilocybin mushrooms. I shot this portrait of her as she appeared beside her amazing ceremonial altar. Though of Mazatec tradition, Ines relies also a lot on Catholic saints during the ceremony, with songs and prayers in both Spanish and Mazatec language.
This was my second meeting with Ines, in july 2016.
