Penguin Refuge
The rare yellow eyed penguins have to come ashore every year to molt. During this time they are very vulnerable to dangers. On the island of New Zealand there a few threats except for those brought my man. Even the herbivore species brought have created burrow that the penguins can get stuck in. The Katiki Point Lighthouse Refuge helps to provide the penguins a safe place during this time out of their preferred environment.
