    On the Falkland Islands, a King Penguin chick begs for a meal. We are all familiar with the iconic bright yellow patches on these penguins - but now there is mounting evidence that these patches play a large part in the ability of a male to find a mate: Larger patches are more desirable to females because they are typically found on males that occupy spots closer to the centre of the colony - hence their young are safer from predators.
