Muslim and Yazidi Brothers Bound by War
These men—one Muslim from Mosul, and the other a Yazidi from Shingal—come from groups historically at odds . Both men are family leaders who have lived through the horrors of ISIS. Yet they have stood together like brothers living side-by-side for two years displaced in Soran. Here Abu Raeed was leaving to take family home to rebuild in Mosul. Sahdo Alias, the man with the red scarf, waited nearby that morning until only the two of them remained. And this was their goodbye—for now. (May 2017)
