On a sunny day in Interlaken, I took the cogwheel train an hour up to Schynige Platte in the Bernese Highlands, which rises around 6,800 feet above sea level near Interlaken. From Schynige Platter, you can look down into Interlaken and the stunningly blue lakes on each side, Brienzersee and Thunersee. The higher peaks of the Alps make a jaw-dropping backdrop when covered with snow. The incredible natural beauty of the area is astounding.
