Lead Church is looked after by the Churches Conservation Trust. Although it is a small building, it has a long history. The church stands near to the site of the Battle of Towton which took place in during the Wars of the Roses in 1461. The battle is considered one of the largest and bloodiest battles to have taken place in England.
