Ibu Laut: Mother Ocean
The Bajau Laut, Sea Nomads, have an extremely close relationship to the ocean. Ibu Laut, or Mother Ocean, is the basis of their whole existence & focus of their lives. Even their physical adaptations attest to this, with adults able to sink to the depths with no fins or weights. La Uda, from the last nomadic generation of sea gypsies, hunts with his handmade wooden goggles and gun to provide fish for his family. Climate change, overfishing and pollution are the biggest problems they are facing.
