The Big Melt
Yosemite Falls, the highest waterfall in North America entirely freezes over through the winter. As temperatures increase, the waterfall begins to melt and huge chunks of ice and masses of water come crashing down from heights of over 700 metres. The crashing sound of the ice on the rocks below is so loud that it can be heard all though the night, even from within the rooms of the lodges nearby.
This photo is an attempt to represent that raw force and surreal beauty of the Yosemite Fall melt.
