Edit Photo Details The King's Story
I backpacked bali as a solo female traveler. I stayed with a Balinese dancer and his family. He took me to his ceremony in the morning to show their masked dances that tell the story of the kings. The ceremony began and the king came out to tell his side. The story is through intricate movements of fingers, eyes, head twists, & quick movements, all of which is done barefoot and no words. The music is produced through live instruments by other balinese men. This photo says it all to me.
