    After Hurricane Mathew, over ten feet of sand had been washed away from the Saint Augustine Beach. There were only tree roots, and small patches of wild grasses that had been developing over fifteen years left. This area was a protected sand dune and local bird redevelopment habitat. It was completely destroyed.
