Ice Cave
A freak chance brought us to the Apostle Islands Ice Caves in the winter of '15. I've never seen anything so spectacular. It's an event that only happens every so many years. The ice has to be thick enough to make the hike way out onto the frozen waters of Lake Superior. I crawled into a narrow passage to get this photo. The whole time I was in this little cavern the ice was cracking and making the worst groaning sounds as the heat of midday caused it to expand and contract.
