A portrait of my maternal grandfather affectionately known in our family as Bop. The halo in this photo was most appropriate as this amazing man traveled the world for the White Stag Company for 40+ years earning the respect and love of everyone he helped. Despite opposition, he was the first to hire people of color at his company. A self-made man who left a jealous stepmother and troubled home at the age of 13, he survived at first by lying about his age and fighting as a featherweight boxer.
