Bernard Mountain sits on the quiet side of Mount Desert Island. Especially in the near freezing spring temperatures, this trail offers something valuable in a national park...solitude. It is no doubt unforgettable to watch the sunrise on Cadillac Mountain or to climb the Precipice Trail. But to find solitude in a beautiful park is another type of special.
