This year, The Netherlands is celebrating 100 years of de Stijl (the Style), an architecture, art and design movement aimed at pure abstraction and breaking with artistic conventions of the time. Abroad, Mondriaan is perhaps its best known proponent. Here we see the 17th century facade of the Leiden City Hall reflected in a decorated store window across the street. Many shops and businesses have decorated their windows in the typical primary color rectangles of de Stijl to commemorate the event.
