    I parked near a favorite birding spot in Western Washington, slung my camera over my shoulder and hiked into the swampy hunting field in search of short eared owls. They winter in Skagit Valley and I'd seen several here in years past. This beauty kept flying back to the boundary sign to rest, so I set up near by and waited for him to return.
